GOALKING Endorsed Academy

GOALKING is happy to share that our Academies in Edmonton have received the Endorsement renewal from the Alberta Soccer Association for 2022 ( Alberta Soccer ), which we have held since 2016. This Endorsement ensures that our curriculum and training standards meet the ASA Camp & Academy Endorsement Guidelines.

The Mission of the GOALKING Academies is to provide basic to advanced training to youth who wish to improve and master technical and tactical abilities to compete at higher-level soccer competitions in our Edmonton Region and beyond. GOALKING Academies are independent from any soccer team or Club, but the Academies function as a complement to teams or clubs for players who want to develop to the top of their potential.

New Career Achievement for Coach Armando

Armando Sanchez Lona was selected to join the Vancouver Whitecaps FC in Edmonton to Coach and Train the youth goalkeepers in the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Regional REX Program, in addition to the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Boys MLS Academy.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC of Major League Soccer (MLS), and the Alberta Soccer Association (Alberta Soccer) announced in March 2021 a new and expanded three-year player development partnership in the Whitecaps FC BMO Academy System that supports a local aligned pathway to benefit the game in Alberta. Programming in both Calgary and Edmonton will provide a direct link to Vancouver with the full-time Whitecaps FC Boys MLS Academy (13 to 16-years-old) and the Girls Elite Regional Excel (REX) Super Centre program in partnership with BC Soccer (13 to 16-years-old).

Coach Armando has earned the National B License designation from the Canadian Soccer Association

Coach Armando continues his progression through the Coaching Stream in Canada, this time earning the National B Licence this December 2021, with validation through December 2024.

This National B Licence is the first step in the Canada Soccer Performance Stream pathway and prepares coaches to progress to the Canada Soccer A Licence, which is the next goal for Coach Armando in the upcoming years.

In this License, Coach Armando was trained in Tactical periodization, Building a game model, Understanding and utilizing Sports Science, Understanding and developing tactical strategies related to individual and small group tactics, Presentation and communication skills, Use of technology in coaching, and Match analysis.

Armando is currently completing his Canada Soccer Youth License-Goalkeeping.
